Nepean Public Hospital
Dr Ammar Ali Beck gained his fellowship in 2005, and took on the challenge of becoming staff Specialist at Nepean Public Hospital which is one of the major teaching hospitals in Western Sydney. After two years in staff position, he made the change to a VMO to gain more work flexibility and better life balance.
Dr Ammar Ali Beck’s current clinical practice is divided between the private and public sectors, which gave him a diverse and dynamic practice. With small group of his colleagues, they have started a group practice, which has been a challenge for the last few years. His interests in anaesthesia have evolved around neurosurgery, bariatric, colorectal, and obstetrics. Dr Beck has a keen interest in teaching, which led him to spend two years in a supervisor of training role at Nepean Public Hospital. Overcoming the limited funding in research, he was able to involve Nepean anaesthetic department in a multi-centre trial for the first time in the department history, and establish the Obstetric SIG, which evolved to a meeting point between anaesthesia and obstetrics.
Dr Beck feels very privileged to be an anaesthetist and more so to be able to serve with a dedicated team of professionals representing the interest of NSW anaesthetists.
