Dr. Adrian Sultana MD FRCP (Glasg) FANZCA is a consultant anaesthetist at a number of hospitals in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from the University of Malta in 1984, trained in General Medicine in the UK, and graduated FANZCA in 1993 after specialist training in Sydney and Melbourne.
He is appointed as a Conjoint Lecturer at the Prince Of Wales Clinical School, University Of New South Wales and is also a Clinical Lecturer in Anaesthesia at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine, Macquarie University.
Dr. Sultana has a long-term interest and experience in anaesthesia and perioperative management of bariatric surgical patients and is currently the Executive Secretary of the International Society for the Perioperative Care of the Obese Patient (http://ispcop.net).
Dr. Sultana has regularly presented Scientific Papers in anaesthesia for obesity at national and international congresses in the last few years. He has tutored the topic of Obesity and Anaesthesia at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists’ pre-examination course in Sydney since 1999.
His current research interests include novel airway techniques during anaesthesia for the morbidly obese; target controlled intravenous anaesthesia and opioid free anaesthetic techniques for Bariatric Surgery.
